Savile House is not just a holiday home, it is ‘our’ holiday home. The cottage offers characterful 3 bedroomed holiday accommodation in old Ollerton Village, in Sherwood Forest. The house is on Station Road, near St Giles Church, the White Hart and the bridal shop. There is a secure rear patio garden area (pebbled at the moment) which leads from the sitting room via a stable door with gated access to the rear parking space. Ollerton Village is a conservation area on the edge of Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest in the area known as The Dukeries. Ollerton is home to the only working watermill in Nottinghamshire, built in 1713 on the River Maun. The mill has an award winning teashop, The Watermill Teashop which is just around the corner from Savile House. The village also has a lovely Italian restaurant, Bella Vita, and the refurbished Hop Pole Hotel. If you are looking for a dog friendly place to eat then The Rose Cottage, on the main A614 by Rufford Abbey is a good choice and you can walk there in 40 mins. We are just 2 miles from the Sherwood Forest Arts & Crafts Centre and Visitor Centre with the Major Oak. Rufford Abbey also just 2 miles and Sherwood Pines for walking, cycling & Go Ape is under 4 miles. Another magnificent park, Clumber is 4 miles (National Trust). The pretty town of Southwell with it’s magnificent Minster is 12 miles or a 20 minute drive from Ollerton and is well worth a visit. Cresswell Crags on the Derbyshire border is 10 miles and Bolsover Castle 14 miles. A little further afield is the thriving city of Nottingham. Drive there in 40 minutes or catch the bus from outside the Hop Pole. Historic Lincoln with it’s beautiful Cathedral is a 45 minute drive and the stunning Chatsworth House in Derbyshire can be reached in an hour.
